Dark Shadows, the prequel

I scanned a bunch of old pictures last fall in Peoria, including some neat ones like this of Grandma G when she was younger. I love the way she looks here--so elegant--but what really grabs my attention is her mother. Now I know where I get the dark shadows under my eyes from--my goodness! And am I imagining things . . . or is she wearing some sort of kimono in this picture?
