Faithful Moms

Here are some "new" old pictures from the stack I brought here from Peoria.

This was taken on Christmas Sunday 1971, after Dorie's baptism at FUMC in Peoria.  Almost exactly ten years later Dorie went through Confirmation at FUMC.

This was July 1981.  Mom looks amazing for being a mother of five at this point. I was 9 1/2.

Emily, you are just precious here.  And look at Grandma's pretty matching violet blouse and vest.
This was taken in the fall of 1979.

Oh, such love.

When I think of these two faithful moms, this song comes to mind.

Find Us Faithful
by Jon Mohr, 1987

We're pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road
And those who've gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful,
encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace

Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who've gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives

Chorus:
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful

After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone
And our children sift though all we've left behind
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover
Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find

Chorus

Beautiful, Jana. Thanks for posting this. I don't remember seeing those photos, except the one with me and Grandma. Or should I say Grandma holding the original Squeeze and Spit Emily doll.

What a beautiful post! Love the song words, too. We have some great examples of mothers to learn from. Just wish we could still call them up and ask questions. Well, I guess that's what sisters are for!
