House Explosion

Ya, so... this is just down the street from Bruce's parent's house, and about 14 houses down from us. Their house is fine. Scary, though! B's dad got video of it that the local news will use.

Wow, that's so frightening--but what a blessing that the woman was rescued and unhurt.

About five years ago, there was an explosion like this at a house just a block away from us (it was a rental property owned by some church friends of ours). A whole family was living there, and the mother was pregnant. Thankfully, everyone was on the upper level of the house--otherwise there would surely have been death or injury. Turns out it was a gas main issue (in the pipeline under the street). My friends later built a new house on the property with the compensation from the utility company, and now they live there themselves.

Of course, last fall here in California there was a terrible tragedy caused by gas pipelines in San Bruno, where an entire neighborhood went up in flames. Four people died. It was horrible.

These kinds of things make me realize how blessed we are just to have an ordinary day.
