This is so coincidental . . . the other morning I was just thinking that Elena and Andreas are the right ages to enjoy some of these episodes (also the candy factory assembly line one, too!). I also think they'd kind of get into Andy Griffith.
I just remember that one year when I was about 13 or so and you little girls were truly little, they aired reruns of Lucy at about 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and I just remember that it was the highlight of our afternoons that summer. Good times.
Now the only thing they show at that time is Judge Judy or Jerry Springer. Pity.
DON'T DO IT!!! Let them stay outside, discovering nature, and learning how to do things with their hands, and read. I say this as an indictment of my own lazy childhood, where I got to the point of avoiding the light of day for all the humor on TV, and needless to say, gaining a few extra pounds as I lay on the couch. Of course, I am a funny guy today...
Maybe our kids can just watch a few select quality shows like this. The Hallmark channel is having an I Love Lucy marathon tomorrow! I do love this episode and many others. There's a hilarious one where little Ricky wants Superman to come to his birthday party, and Lucy promises it, and then she dresses up as Superman and gets stuck on the ledge outside their window.
Um. Dad? I think of any of your grandkids, Jana's are the LEAST likely to be couch potatoes!!!
